For our Activity this week I took the girls to the temple. WE are so lucky to live close to so many. I told the girls to bring their digital cameras or their camera/phones. I gave them 20 minutes to walk around the temple grounds to take pics of things that had the value colors. I was so impressed with how creative they were. I asked them all to text or email me the images. I haven't got them all yet but I made one little poster with their images. I then told them about some values in their personal progress books to work on (things that had to do with the temple)

Lesson 31 lm1 Group Activities and wise dating
For this weeks handout I thought the April 2010 the New Era Magazine would be perfect. It is a special issue: dating for beginners. I thought it had some really good topics, and talks.
It is $1.50 a magazine. They can be ordered HERE or call the LDS Global Service Center 1-800-537-5971
You can view a pdf of the magazine HERE. If you wanted to just print a few articles from the magazine. But I thought for only $1.50 it would be fun for them to have the actual magazine

Super Hero Bday Party
My Son didn't want a bday cake (lucky ME!) he wanted "sprinkled donuts that look like captain America's shield"
I painted 4 superheroes that the kids could put their cute little face through. (EASY instructions at the bottom of this post) We also used them for a bean bag toss too. These little batman capes were SOOO easy. 1 yard of black felt made 2 capes. I just traced a cape he had and cut it out. The felt was so nice and thick that I didn't have to hem or sew the edges (YEA) I let the kids choose what colored batman they wanted. They drew on the other side of their capes with white crayon. But throughout the party it kind of wore off ): They just tied in the front around the neck.
I bought a cheap $8, 4'x8' piece of wood at home depot. I had home depot cut 2 feet off each board (so they'd fit in the mini van) so each super hero is 4'x6'
The wood I bought had a shiny side so I put a coat of KILZ primer down first so my acrylics would have alittle grip.
I printed a 4x6 coloring page of each superhero off the Internet and took it to a local copy store and had them copy it to a transparency. It was $1.25 and I could fit 2 superheros on each transparency.
I used a black sharpie when I traced the picture onto the wood. Sounds scary but It makes t easy to see the black lines under your paint
Put on one coat of acrylic paint. Once it's nice and dry retrace your lines with the black sharpie.
2nd coat of paint. Once it's dry retrace the lines again with black sharpie. The outline helps bring it to life. It also helps it look nice and finished.

Lesson 23 lm1 Forgiveness
Sorry i've been slacking lately. We just welcomed a beautiful baby into our home.
I saw this quote on sugardoodle. I made alittle handout to attach to a little bag of bit-o-honeys. I thought about attaching it to alittle empty plastic honeybear jar. They had them at a local grocery store for $0.69 but I couldn't think of what to fill the jar with.

Lesson #16 lm1 Women and Priesthood bearers
We talked about ways we could support our priesthood holders. I had the girls fill out the handout with things they could do to help the young men their age honor their priesthood. The girls came up with a great list!!
I gave the handout with Big Hunk candy bar

Lesson #11&12 lm1 Growing and Muturing in Self Reliance
We talked about what it means to Grow and Mature in Self Reliance. I related it to Planting and Taking care of Garden.
I thought "seeds" would go great with the handout. I found these cute little sunflower seed packs at Winco they were 3/$1.00

Camp Kick off {THE LORAX}
This year our Stake Camp Theme is "Oh The Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss. Each ward was given a color and a value. We have Yellow, and Good works.
The stake asked each ward to choose a Dr. Seuss book to use as a ward theme. Our YCL's decided on The Lorax. I think it will be so fun especially with the new movie that just came out!
We had our Camp kick-off. We use this night to introduce the theme to the girls and to have parents fill out and sign the necessary paperwork.
Here's our invitation. They didn't know our theme yet so we wanted to give them a subtle little hint.
Our YCL's made up a cute little skit to introduce our Lorax theme. It turned out soo cute!
We also had yummy Lorax themed treats
Our Humming "gold" Fish
Chocolate Teddy Graham Barb-a-loots and Marshmallows
Chocolate Lorax Mustaches
I bought the chocolate mold HERE
I bought white Almond Bark from Walmart and used an OIL BASED food coloring to dye it yellow.
Swomee-Swan Nests
I just melted 1-bag of Butterscotch chocolate chips, and stirred in 2-bags 6oz crunchy chow mein noodles. Then topped them with jellybeans
Truffula Tree Sugar Cookies.
I saw this idea on Pinterest. HERE We just used Buttercream frosting instead of Royal Icing.
Right after you get the cookies out of the oven (While they are still hot) just poke the paper straw through the cookie.
The night turned out great and our girls are so excited for our Lorax themed Girls camp
