Girls Camp Recap

We had a wonderful time at girls camp at Mia Shalom.
Our Stake Girls camp theme was S.T.A.R.S (Shining  Together As Righteous Sisters). Each ward had a value color. We were GOLD, so fun and so pretty.
For our "Mailboxes" this year my Laurel Adviser made the cutest little buckets. She found the pails at IKEA for $0.77. Her husband then drilled holes in the sides to for the rope handle. They turned out super cute! The mailboxes are where they then can put their secret sister treats, letters, etc..
We had a each of the girls chose a favorite "star" quote to share up at camp. Each day we had a few of them tell us why they chose that quote. They then could glue the star quote in their camp journals.
I made the girls these cute little Star hairclips and attached them to my star quote. (I just used vinyl paper they have at hobby lobby and glued felt on the back)
Each day we have one of the leaders give a short little devotional. I talked about how we are daughters of a king. I made these cute little star "crowns" to give to them after. I found the star ribbon at Etsy HERE I actually ended up using a bigger star than pictured below but I forgot to take a picture of the bigger one.
I challenged my YW to read the Book of Mormon before girls camp this year. They had a few months to do it. I found these adorable necklace on Etsy HERE for the girls that finished.

This year we gave each of the girls a lanyard that had our schedule for the week. On the back was a place they could mark off their certification requirements.
Each night we had a leader leave a little pillow treat on the girls beds. I'm sad I forgot to take a picture of all of them.
these cute little bags were so tiny and cute. They were filled starburst and had the cutest little poem attached.

Cute little girls camp "prescription" It was filled with skittles.

we had a couple of crafts the girls could do each day. Another thing I am sad I forgot to take pictures of some. The girls loved these cute bandanna bags. They were perfect to hold their journals, scriptures, pens, etc...

This is what our camp journals looked like this year. They turned out great!
We had the girls make Marshmallow guns. Then we brought different duck & washi tape and let the girls decorate them. We then had some fun little shooting competitions.
I saved the decorations we used at our Camp Kick-Off party. see HERE We used them to decorate the pavilion.
It was a rainy week but when the rain cleared it was gorgeous!!

Girls Camp Fundraiser: Mother's Day Corsages

This was our 2nd year doing Mother's Day corsages for our Girls camp Fundraiser. Our ward was very supportive and all the women looked extra beautiful that day with their pretty flowers.

The Young women did a wonderful job making the corsages. They are getting pretty good and fast at making them. I of course forgot to take a picture when it was fresh. This is 2 days old so the waxflower is looking alittle shrunken. It is a great skill to teach the YW. Now they know how for their High school dances. It would also work to do boutonnieres for Father's day.

S.T.A.R.S Girls camp Kick-off party

We had our annual Girls Camp Kick Off  for YW.
This is the night we introduce the theme, have parents fill out paperwork, give them an outline of certification nights, make their camp journals, discuss camp rules, and introduce the YCL's. It is a fun but very productive evening.
We have Stake camp every year. This year the stake has chosen S.T.A.R.S
Shining Together As Righteous Sisters.
Each ward is given a Color/Value. We are GOLD isn't that perfect for a Stars theme?!
I was asked to decorate (my favorite part)

I wanted to make things that we could also pack up to decorate up at camp.
I bought a 5 pack of these thin Canvas boards at Michaels (they were $14.99 but I used a 50% coupon) I taped off stripes and painted with black acrylic paint. I then modpodged Gold Glitter stars. Then put a layer of mod podge over it all so it will clean up nice. On the thicker Stripe I painted 2 coats of chalkboard paint. That way if at Camp we want to write different things each day we can. (Or if I want to use them for a bday party or something I can). You can't really see in the picture but I also drilled 2 holes in the top so we can hang these on a rope up at camp.
I used one of my ruffle tents I sell for a little "camping" decoration. I didn't get a picture but I also had cute Metal lanterns with light up candles in them. I cut out about 1 billion stars and strung them on twine. I laminated them at a local copy store so that they would survive and still look nice for camp. And also just in case it rains at camp. I found these cardboard letters (they are probably at least 3/4'' thick) at Hobby Lobby for a buck! I then just \modpodged gold glitter on them.

We kept the food pretty simple but it was YUMMY. We had  Peanut Butter S'more bars. We found the Recipe at http://melssweetlife.com/2012/04/05/peanut-butter-cup-smores-bars/

I also am currently obsessed with these tissue paper tassel garlands. They are cheap, easy and look so dang cute!

Girls Camp 2013

Sorry for the lack of posts. My Computer kinda went kapoot. But I have the new one up and running (: We had girls camp last month. It was such a fun week. it's a great excuse to kind of "unplug" from the world. It was Stake camp this year and the theme was Rise-up I'll be what he wants me to be. We were excited because it went so well with our wards 2013 theme Adventure awaits. Each ward was a different Value & Color. We were Faith-White. The stake all had the same hoodies but we decided our ward wanted t-shirts as well. They turned out really cute!
This was the Back. I like to design shirts that I feel the girls can wear again without it screaming GIRLS CAMP!!

For one of our crafts we had the girls paint their own Hot Dog sticks. They loved it!
We also made several different headbands to make our camp hair cute! They all turned out so cute. I forgot to take pictures of the head bands at camp but luckily I had a cute lil model at home! I found a tutorial at CraftinMechanic

We also had the girls decorate pillowcases with sharpies. It went with our PJ devotional one night.

Popcorn Bar

We had our YW girls Camp Kick off last night. It is a night we introduce the Stake camp theme, and our ward value & Color. This year we are Faith (WHITE). I've been wanting to do a popcorn bar ever since I saw one HERE The white popcorn would be perfect for our ward and popcorn is so cheap! Even better! The girls LOVED making their own little bags of popcorn. It was so fun, alittle messy but FUN!
I found all the seasonings at Walmart by the popcorn. Each little 3oz bottle of seasoning filled 2 salt shakers. I found the salt shakers at the dollar store and it came in a 2 pack for $1. The seasonings I bought were Ranch, Butter, White Cheddar, Garlic Parmesan, and Kettle Corn. I also mixed up some cinnamon sugar.
For mix-ins I just bought random things that I had a coupon for or were on sale. Sweet tart jelly beans, m&m's, oreos, honey roasted peanuts, white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, mike & Ikes, etc...

Girls Camp Part 2

I had such a great time at Girls Camp. What good girls our ward has. Before we went we all spray painted t-shirts to wear. So much easier, and cleaner than Tie-dying! I forgot my camera so I only have a pic from my phone.

I made some signs to hang on the cabin doors. This was the Leaders cabin

The girls cabin. I had some of that sticky mirror stuff you use to replace your car mirrors (they sell it at walmart for a couple bucks) So I put it on the princess's face so they could see themselves.

The theme of camp was "Sole Sisters" so each ward was a different shoe. We were a Hiking boot. Each ward also had a value we were Integrity and the color purple. One of our leaders made an acronym for HIKER (Highest Integrity Kindles Eternal Rewards).
