Lesson #37 lm1 part two

I glued this handout on the back of the Audrey Hepburn Poem. We talked about the importance of each of the 5 areas listed. The idea was found in the manual. I found the template for the cutout here

For the treat I made Orange Carrot Cookies (they don't sound good but they are TASTY)

1 1/2 cups shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups mashed cooked carrots
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup walnuts

1-Preheat oven to 375 grease cookie sheets
2-in a large bowl, cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs. Then stir in carrots and vanilla. Mix well. add flour baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Fold in walnuts. Drop spoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
3-bake 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Cool and then frost with orange glaze

Orange Glaze
1-1 cup confectioners sugar, grate the rind of orange into bowl with sugar. Squeeze enough juice from the orange to make a thin but spreadable consistency. Mix until smooth. If necessary stir in more confectioners sugar. Spread onto cookies.
