Sneak Peak for J

One of my Best friends asked if I would take a couple pics for her in-laws. They had everyone in town for Thanksgiving and wanted an updated pic. They all have so much personality, and I loved their outfit choices.

This is the first grandbaby for this family. They are all totally smitten by this adorable girl.

I think Ms. N could be the real-life Rapunzel from Disney's Tangled.

Lesson #42 lm2 Gratitude & Appreciation

My friend showed me this adorable tutorial {see here} a while ago and it went perfect with the lesson. The tutorial even comes with a printable pattern. Instead of putting it on a clip, i put it on a pony tail holder. And I only sewed the middle bud part. The rest I just used the glue gun to save me a little time! I was suprised at how quick they came together. I made 10 of them in an hour.

I gave each girl a real rose, and challenged them to give it to someone in the ward to tell them thank you for something.

I think it was a great reminder not to look at what we don't have but to be thankful for all the things we do have!

Lesson #41 lm2 Optimism

For this lesson I read the talk by Elder Wirthlin "Come What May, and Love It!" We talked about how being optimistic helps us with our friends, family, and faith. And how important it is to learn to laugh. And trying to find the joy in things.

I made each of the girls a little magnet with the quote "come what may, and love it". It was a fun lesson

Lesson #40 Self-Mastery

We talked about the "four-keys" described in the lesson manual. I really felt the 2nd key was really important for my girls. To believe in yourself with an understanding that you are a child of God, with Godlike attributes to be discovered and developed.

So for the handout I just made some cupcakes and attached the words "Believe in yourself"

Senior Pics

This cute girl is one of my laurels. She is the funniest, sweetest, girl. I love her gorgeous red hair and A-mazing eyelashes. We took most her senior pictures on her Grandpa's land. It was a dream. There were so many props: old cars, houses, barns, and horses. It was so fun. We also stopped on our way home to take a few on the railroad tracks. Thanks A I had a ton of fun!

Her Grandpa was so cute and kept wanting his picture taken. He was adorable!

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Maple Frosting

I found a template to make cute cupcake wrappers at snow&graham

2 cup all purpose flour

2 tsp Baking Powder

1 tsp Baking Soda

1 tsp Kosher Salt

2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 cup sugar

1 cup light brown sugar lightly packed

*mix dry ingredients first

add to dry mixture
4 extra large eggs
2 cups canned pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
1 cup vegetable oil

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Line cupcake tins with liners. Fill liners 2/3 full of batter. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Set aside and cool completely

Maple Frosting
12 ounce Cream cheese (room temperature)
6 TBSP unsalted butter (room temperature)
1/2 tsp Natural maple flavor
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 cups sifted confectioners sugar

Mix cream cheese & butter until smooth. Stir in the maple, and vanilla. With mixer on low slowly add the confectioners sugar and mix until smooth.

Top with coarsely chopped heath bar on top of frosting

Lesson #36 lm2 Honesty

This is the last lesson before Halloween so I thought these were cute and festive.

I saw these Halloween Treat boxes HERE they even have printable step by step instructions.

It was a little bit of a stretch to tie these cute boxes into the lesson. But I think it worked out!

I think these would also be a cute treat to give neighbors, friends, or grandparents for Halloween!

Dry-erase board

What an easy way to "make" a dry-erase board
Supplies: Frame w/glass (I got mine at Wal-mart for $3), scrapbook paper or fabric cut to the size of your frame, and a dry-erase maker. Pretty simple but oh so cute!

(just put your paper or fabric in the frame instead of a picture)

I put the orange paper in mine for fall. You could change the paper for a whole new look with each season.

I added the vinyl "good job!" on the glass. What a fun way to remind your family they are doing a good job! Just keep it on your kitchen table and write a "good job!" for the day, ("good job" on your spelling test, "good job" on the delicious dinner), then erase with a paper towel.

I thought this would be a cute, cheap, and easy Christmas gift. Perfect for friends, YW, VT, neighbors, or family.
